Welcome to Gillian’s Kitchen
Who am I?
I was born in England, to a British Father and Mother of Italian decent. Both my maternal grandparents were Italian. I never met my Grandad but have very fond memories of my Grandma. You can read more about my Italian side here where I share my favourite childhood meal. I have always had a passion for food, travel and languages – not necessarily in that order!
Other than England I have lived in Portugal, France, Africa, Hong Kong and China. I have lived in Hong Kong on two occasions now, once just before the handover in 1996 to 1997 and then I returned in 2007, and have been here since with my husband and four children.
My blog: Gillian’s Kitchen
Gillian’s Kitchen is where I record our favourite family recipes for simple, no fuss, everyday cooking. My focus is on healthy, well balanced eating. Mains, interesting sides and salads, and of course plenty of baking and indulgences to strike that healthy balance. Head straight over to our favourite family recipe page to see our all time family favourites that make meal times seamless.
I am fortunate not to have any food intolerances (that I know of yet!), but I am increasingly mindful that, what we put into our bodies today can make a world of difference tomorrow. I don’t embrace any particular diet regime, however, I do enjoy experimenting and am always interested in learning about the latest diet trends like, Paleo , Raw, Gluten free, Meat Free Monday movement…etc).
My focus is taste, and I believe moderation is key whether we’re talking about cakes or coconuts!
Between running GMT Foods (my food import agency), looking after my family of four kids, husband, dog and two cats, I will be updating this recipe blog. I apologise in advance for any slowness in getting new recipes to you, I will try to update as frequently as spare time allows.
Should you have any questions, would like to leave a comment, make a suggestion, share a recipe, I’d be delighted to hear from you. Either send me a note through this link here, or leave a comment in a recipe’s comment section.
You can also follow me on Instagram, which get’s updated almost daily with a lot of behind the scenes action!
